(see radiology section) Excluding a significant pelvic fracture is an essential part of any trauma assessment. An AP pelvis x-ray is required in all trauma patients except in those who are: Conscious Cooperative Have no distracting injury Have no effects of drugs or alcholol Are haemodynamically stable

Typical for muscle strain is edema centered along the musculotendinous junction (1). More severe muscle strains contain fluid collections such as hematomas and may contain grossly interrupted muscle fibers and thus may show masslike features on MR images in addition to muscle edema. Typical features of muscle injuries on MRI include fluid signal intensity tracking and surrounding the muscle fibers, myofascial, myotendinous or tendinous units of the rectus femoris muscle and/or discontinuities of the respective muscle components. Location, severity and extent of the muscle injury and extent of muscle retraction can be determined on MRI and even subtle tears can be detected with a suitable MRI protocol and proper knowledge of anatomy.

It provides the clinician with practical guidance on the key presenting characteristics, clinical features, diagnosis and management. In a mouse model of severe muscle damage, injections of this naturally occurring protein led to the complete regeneration of muscle and the return of normal movement after severe muscle trauma. LGMD 2A 5 General: Similar to FKRP Distinguishing feature Obturator externus & internus less involved than FKRP Upper body Common: Latissimus dorsi, Serratus anterior, Subscapularis Subclavius posticus is an accessory muscle of the shoulder, originating from the superior surface of sternal end of 1st rib, coursing posterolaterally to attach along the superior surface of scapula, usually lateral to the inferior belly of omohyoid muscle. This muscle is usually supplied by the suprascapular nerve. Trauma imaging has evolved over the years in response to new techniques, access to imaging facilities and provider training.

Immediate management decisions must be made by the designated trauma team leader. Standard 1.
The Munich consensus statement (expert level evidence) states muscle tear is the preferred term denoting "structural injuries of muscle fibers/bundles leading to loss of continuity and contractile properties" 1. The most common muscle injury is muscle strain (1). It is an injury to the musculotendinous junction. Typical for muscle strain is edema centered along the musculotendinous junction (1). More severe muscle strains contain fluid collections such as hematomas and may contain grossly interrupted muscle fibers and thus may show masslike features on MR images in addition to muscle edema. A practical approach to muscle trauma is to categorize injuries in terms of mechanism as direct or indirect (Box 12-2). In direct injuries, as implied, a force is contiguously applied to muscle resulting in immediate trauma to the underlying tissue as may occur with laceration, contusion, or pressure necrosis.
